Hello all. I have a query please. Been in the UK (eu family member) for 10 yrs and had 2x eea1/2 permits. We then moved to Guernsey (channel islands), applied and got a permanent residence based on our last 5 yrs in the UK. We were told we can apply for naturalization in a years time over here for british citizenship, but we were also told that our PR here doesnt automatically mean its a PR in the UK and that we will have to ask the home office for clarification. We arw not planning to go back anytime soon however we are intrigued to know whats our status in the UK. Anybody got any experience?

The Isle of Man and Channel Islands have a complex relationship with the United Kingdom in terms of what immigration statuses can transfer and which ones cannot (and you'd need an immigration solicitor to give more specific advice).

However- British citizenship from the Channel Islands or Isle of Man is identical the British citizenship granted by the Home Office. Except that British passports of those with exclusively Channel Islands/Isle of Man background are endorsed to the effect that they do not give residence rights in other EU/EEA states.
