British Naturalisation application refused !

Hi All,
I received a letter from the home office today stating that my application for British Citizenship has been refused. The reason for refusal is their claim that they sent me a letter requesting evidence of residence about a month ago & since they haven't received a reply they have refused my application.

Unfortunately, I have not received the letter they claim to have sent & up until this evening, didn't even know it existed. I cannot reply to a letter I never received. But how do I even prove that I have not received it? Did HO definitely send it? Did it get lost in the post ? Additionally, HO has not sent any emails or text messages reference this considering they do request my contact details (phone number & email address) on the application.

So, right now, I really don't know what to do -
Do I apply for the application to be reconsidered (There's a separate application form for this where I have to shell out a further £321 for this to be re-considered citing the reasons, though apparently this will be refunded if the decision is reversed). They state on the letter that they do no re-open application unless there were compelling circumstances. For Eg. "If you did not receive our correspondence because of an unexpected absence or illness". I did not receive the correspondence, period. Not because I was absent or ill, but simply because it wasn't delivered & so I haven't received it. Even then, not sure if HO won't just simply refuse the reconsideration request & then I'll end up losing the +£300 reconsideration application fees in addition to the £1282 application fees.

My second & expensive option is to re-apply for the Citizenship from scratch. This means shelling out another £1,282 & who's to say this won't happen again. Besides, HO did not send me back my LiUK test certificate so do I have to take the test again or request a copy ? All this hassle over a piece of paper I never received. In the age of technology, where most companies use text & email as an active way of contacting people & HO relies on the postman/postwoman with no proof of receipt of letter.

Bottom line, my application has been refused & as my username says Just my luck. I would really appreciate any suggestions & recommendations you may have regarding the matter & if you had similar experience, please share.

Are you an EU or non-EU national?

What documents did you send with your application as supporting evidence?

Did you apply by post yourself or through NCS at the council?

Did you by any chance change address?

A letter would be in a standard brown envelope, second class mail. Often looks like junkmail. Any chance you might have missed it or the dog ate it or a family member picked it up and put it somewhere?

Hi,
I am a non-EU national & I received my BRP on the basis of being a family member of an EU national.

As per the supporting documents list at the end of the application form, I sent evidence of Identity - BRP, Evidence of Language - UK university degree, LiUK knowledge - LiUK certificate, Evidence of lawful residence - passport (options were passport or letters from employers, educational establishments or other government depts).

I applied on my own [should have used NCS I know now :( ]

I have stayed at my current address for over 3 years.

I do not have a dog & have received letters from HO in the past, no problem (naturalisation application acknowledgement, biometric enrolment request etc). I check my mail everyday but I have not received this letter HO said it sent.

So, the question remains - what do I do next?

HI, I think you can use the reconsideration option and have to spend some extra money as re applying will cost you more. Nothing else we can do.

I even applied through NCS + JCAP. on 9th of May 2017 and got letter on 28 September dated 25 of September 17. The case worker asked me to provide Original Passport, BRP, HMRC tax calculation for the Year 2015 / 2016 and My Master degree as i am claiming Language at B1 level. ( Even though i have provided a Letter (Language Assessment of the Qualification) by UK NARIC with the application. I have sent all the requested documents by next day special delivery on 29 of September 17. Still waiting for decision. Even though i have paid extra fee for NCS.

I'm replying to this because I think NCS is rubbish.

I have seen so many posts here, I think half the time people would do a better job on their own, they trust the local council too much! I mean the council can't even collect your bins on a regular basis and people trust them with their naturalisation application.

Boggles the mind.

The majority of members have no issues with NCS and get approvals. There are members who have posted/stated that they have refused to submit a particular document as they believed it didn't apply to them and then were surprised they got refused citizenship.

NCS is only a 3rd party handling agent and also have no influence on an application or speed of processing. The biggest advantage of NCS of course is that you can apply for citizenship and passport at the same time and you get to keep all your original documents. NCS also has a direct line to Nationality Department should they have questions.

Might be most of member do not have any issue with NCS but i have because i was carrying all the documents with me when i have attended the appointment at NCS and i have requested to the lady staff NCS did not took all the documents at the time of appointment from me even though i have requested her that please take these documents but she said to me if they need they will write you and ask to provide.

Now the the case worker asked me to provide the following Original
Current and Previous Passports
BRP Card (ILR)
HMRC tax calculation for the Year 2015 / 2016
Master degree as i am claiming Language at B1 level.

I as having with me 5 years Tax Calculation and Master degree but the staff at NCS did not took the copies of these with my applications.

As you mention " The biggest advantage of NCS of course is that you can apply for citizenship and passport at the same time and you get to keep all your original documents."

I cant see that advantage as now my original passport and BRP Card is in home office from more than 3 weeks and the big lost i have faced that i was having planned traveling arraignments from the first week of October and have cancelled all the tickets.

As you also mentioned that "NCS also has a direct line to Nationality Department should they have questions"
is there any way i can contact them?
