Hey,

Okay so, my mom is a citizen of England, she was born there, moved here in the 80's and never became an American citizen. She has her green card. Now, I am currently trying to apply for school in the U.K. And it would be SO much cheaper if I were a resident! Do I have a better/quicker chance to become one?? And or does anyone know if I would be qualified for tutition discounts because my mom is a citizen and I have other immediate family that lives there and always has??

If your mother is a British citizen born in the UK, assuming you were born in or after 1983, you are a British citizen by descent and therefore can apply for a British passport yourself.

However, regarding tuition fees for higher or further education (not sure which you meant by "school"), there are two requirements, that you are a UK or EU citizen AND that you (not family members, but you yourself) have been resident in the UK/EU for at least three years preceding the start of the studies. If you do not meet either of the conditions, you will be charged the overseas rates, which are much higher (up to three times) than the home rates.

Be aware that the rules do differ slightly between the constituent nations of the UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) and that you may want to look at whether you meet the rules in any of these nations. The UKCISA website is quite informative on this topic.
