I read Absence is calculated on the 5 years immediately prior to your date of application.

You MUST also have been physically present in the UK on the same date 5 years before your date of application.

I am applying Naturalisation on 17th Jan 2018. In this scenario, I have to physcially present in the UK on 17th JAn 2013. Am I right?

Yes you are right and also not more than 90 days absent in the last 12 months prior to make application.hope it helps.

Thanks a lot, because I was outside UK between Aug 2013 and March 2014. That means 17th Jan 2014 outside UK.

Do I need to mention India address for the absence period in last 5 years address details please? or I can give UK address where I was staying before left to India ?
