Hi, hope someone can explain this as im getting pretty confused - ive seen that some people apply for British naturalisation and the British passport at the same time? Don't we have to wait till we get the naturalisation certificate at the ceremony and then use it to apply for the actual passport?! I thought that was the whole point of the process as we cant apply for the passport without knowing that our application has been succesful? on some of the timeline posts ive seen that 2 payments have been taken from people - one for the AN and one for the passport. Ive sent my AN form last week as have put the amount of the naturalisation to be taken from my account but im now panicking ive made a mistake

HO have a scheme (called JCAP - joint citizenship and passport application) to apply for both at the same time but it can only be done if applying through NCS (nationality checking service) at the council. Passport will only be issued after approval and attending the ceremony.

Using the online form or applying by post means you cannot use the joint application scheme.

You clearly did not complete a passport application form, which is required to apply for both at the same time through NCS. You will have to wait till you attend your ceremony before you can apply for the passport.
