Naturalisation & British Passport Requirements for PBS Dependant (Tier 2)

Hi Forum members,

I wanted to check if my spouse is eligible to apply for her Naturalisation and British Passport as soon as she gets her ILR or does she have to wait for 12 months after ILR to be eligible for Naturalisation. She has been on PBS Dependant visa (Tier 2 Partner and then PBS Dependant) since Feb 2009. We have her ILR appointment next week. Given it is successful, can she progress through to the next stage?

She currently holds Indian passport so, I reckon after Naturalisation she will have to surrender her Indian Passport to apply for British Passport or can she get a British Passport after naturalisation without giving up on her Indian nationality?

I might be missing a few links so, it will be great if you could help me learn the rules.

On a separate note - Do we have to get IHS reference number for her while applying for her ILR next week?

Many thanks in advance.

If you are British, then yes, else wait.

See also Dual Citizenship.

IHS is not required for ILR applications.

Thanks Vinny.

I am on Indian Passport as of now, so I reckon she'll have to wait for 12 months too, like me.

Thanks for your help.
