Hello Everyone,

I just came across this freedom of the information and wanted your views on it. Weblink: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/ ... ing-835270

I am an IRish citizen living and working in the United Kingdom since August-2012. According to the immigration Act 1971 Irish citizens are automatically deemed to be settled in the United Kingdom as soon as they arrive. section 1(3) of the Immigration Act 1971, the legislative basis for the Common Travel Area. According to the British Nationality Act 1981 a person born in the UK shall be a British citizen if at the time of the birth his father or mother is a British Citizen or settled in the United Kingdom. As irish citizen automatically deemed to be settled in the United Kingdom as soon as they arrived in UK.

Can anyone tell me if they have applied for a british passport of their children under this categorise.

Kind Regards

I'm sure a child born in the UK to an Irish parent is automatically British. You just need to apply for the passport with the birth certificate and the Irish passport.
