Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could advise me point me in the right direction, my cousin has just obtained indefinite leave to remain two weeks ago on the basis of long residence 10 years, he has also been married for the last 4 years to a British citizen as well, so is he allowed to apply for Citizenship immediately or does he have to wait another 1 year before applying? He has been living in the UK for nearly 12 years continuously and legally, can anyone help in this matter?

Thanks

Yes, provided he meets the 3 year spouse of BC requirements, including the absence limit and physically present at the start of the 3 year qualifying period.

Thanks for the quick reply, yes he does meet those requirements, he however had a driving disqualification in march 2016 so he had to wait till march 2018 to apply for his indefinite, does this have any implications on the citizenship?

Possibly yes and he has to pass the more stringent Good Character requirement for citizenship.
