Absence of more than 90 days

Hi All,
I got ILR this year and plan to apply for the British Citizenship next year January 2019.
The question is that, i think i will have traveled more than 90 days. approx 100-110 days.
Will this be okay? or i will have to wait until the number of days fall to 90?
Any previous experiences will also be appreciated.

Usually an absence of 100-110 will be disregarded.

So you mean to they are not strict about 100 days, will they consider 110 days.. is this applicable to 300 / 480 for section 6 (2) / section 6 (1)

Under 100 day absence is normal but more then 100 day will apply for discretion

so do you mean that if instead of 90 days if my holidays were 98 days, it will be ignored but if it was 110 days it will be a problem?
again i am not intending to do this but its good to know because you never know when you will have to travel and after the ILR its really hard to control on travelling

i think my holidays will exceed to 110 days. will it be okay?
will the ukvi ignore the extra 10 days?
please let me know as i really want to apply for the naturalisation as early as possible

As people here are trying to help they will only inform what the guidance says.
The moderator said 100-110 is disregarded.
NOBODY can tell you precisely how many days 98 or 100 or 110 days will be ignored.
It is discretionary and that itself means it depends on the case worker.
Its best you don't go over the limit. If you do then you have to wait for as long as it takes.
You can try even if you want to go upto 200 but you are risking your money. Definite Rejection! Nobody here can help you. Going by the rules is the safest bet. Asking precise number of dates under these circumstances in this forum is insane

On page 16:
Total absences

• between 100 and 180 days, where the residence requirement across the qualifying period is met : discretion
is only appropriate where the applicant demonstrates strong links through the presence of family, employment and their home in the UK
So only up to 100 days is normally disregarded. Between 100 and 180 days, you need to demonstrate strong links to the UK.
Personally I would not risk going over 100 days if possible. How long do you have to wait with your application to get below 100 again?

i think i will go 10 days above the 100 days.
to bring it back under 100 days i will have to wait further 2 - 3 months.

If you're not in a particular hurry, I'd probably wait the 2-3 months until I'm below 100 to be sure. I wouldn't risk losing the application fee over this. Who knows if they'll be satisfied at your "strong links" (do you have family here? do you own your own house in the UK? are you employed?). Also, the decision may well take longer if you're above 100 days and they have to check your strong links, so you might not even save time by applying earlier.
But that's of course just my opinion.

family, yes i have some family here
own house, no but i will be able to show that i am trying to save towards buying a house (will help to buy account prove that?)
employed, yes i am employed
i will in that case wait for the days to drop below 100 or try not to exceed the 100 days and then apply because i do not want to get rejected.

hi all,
as the time approaches i have a much better and clearer situation infront of me.
I have been outside the uk for 110 days and do not plan to travel anymore until 12 months are up.
my question is,
my 12 months complete on January 2018 with 110 days.
12 months complete on March 2018 with 90 days.
I really really want to apply asap but i am just thinking whether the application will be rejected. Any success stories who have got their citizenship applications approved and had 110 days of away days from the UK.
Really appreciate the answers in advance.

No one can make this decision for you. You need to decide if you want to take the risk and apply in January. It is your £1330 that will be lost if you are refused.
You have been given advice in this topic, perhaps read the whole thread again and make a decision.
To be honest, for the sake of a few weeks, why can you not apply in March?? What exactly is the 'rush to apply asap'??

I applied in May 2018 with absence of 156 days; I sought discretion and my application was approved in the normal time frame. The caveats are:
1) I explained the reason for my absence very clearly in my covering letter (it wasn't Crown Service or Merchant Navy).
2) I had every single document, every date of visa application, biometrics date, every pay slip recorded for the last 8 years which I duly submitted
3) I have no convictions, no parking fines, my licence has zero points, never overstayed, no CCJ etc
Do you think your application is just as watertight? If so, there is no harm but I would ask the same question as CR001 - can you not wait for 8 more weeks? I would have had to wait for 24 weeks to bring my absence down to 90 days (assuming not leaving the country at all). I had plenty of business travel scheduled in between. That plus having to waste 2, 3 hours each time (for 10 entries in the last few months) at Heathrow was simply not acceptable to me.

thanks CR001. i understand and i have gone through the thread. I can apply in March but because of the hassle of going through immigration at the airport i really want to get the passport asap. Having to stand at the airport for 2 hours is too much. same for EU countries where you have to stand in the immigration queue.
moreover, i just want to get it so i can start travelling.

thanks for your reply. My application is also same as yours. i can explain in my covering letter that my 8-10 days absence excess is due to mother illness.
i have all the application numbers, dates, brp numbers, pp numbers. you name it i will have it.
i even have all the ticket copies, which i used to travel
no convictions, parking fines or etc.
i can wait to bring the absence number down but i really am reluctant to wait

Hello mate, how are you?
I am in same situation but I am due to apply in June. I been travelling for 135 days to Sweden due to family reason. I know you mention you applied in January 2019. Did it cause any delay or problem to you case. if yes what advice would give me please.
I am now using solicitor just because I been over 90 days.
