Hi,
sorry could not find this info on search so posting here.
Do I have to send my current Indian passport when applying for UK passport?
online application says
-------------------
Dual nationals:
Applying from the UK - you must send us the original non-British passport and provide the number below.
Applying from outside the UK - you must send us a full colour photocopy of the non-British passport, or British Overseas Territories Citizen passport (every page including blank pages) and put the passport number in the additional information box.
-------------------
thanks

India does not allow dual nationality, you need to Surender existing Indian passport within 1 year from obtaining British nationality.
However, You need to include your previous passport details and the Indian passport while applying for British passport.
You can apply through post office check and send.

you need to Surender existing Indian passport within 1 year from obtaining British nationality.
Indian passport needs to be surrendered within
three years of the date of the naturalisation certificate, with any travel using the Indian passport after 90 days of the naturalisation certificate being penalised.

thanks for your replies. I will include a cover letter stating my current passports. Because when filling online application i did select none for dual national passport questions.
My other questions are:
1. Can I use a friend who works a British citizen who works in an offlicense for counter signatory? or does it has to be from someone who has to be in a recognised profession?
2. I paid all 3 passport applications from same online account and made one payment so can I send all documents in one post or send it separately?
thanks

And on declaration form
- Application to sign box: this is where I sign
- date: date of signature
- Relationship of applicant to intended passport holder: Friend
- Name of applicant applying on their behalf: ?
- Countersignature section - this is all about the person who is countersignatory
Please let me know what should i write for "name of applicant applying on their behalf" and if anything above is wrong.
thanks
