Overseas application for my son - 5 months no reply. SEPARATED FAMILY!

Hello All , Please advice. We applied for my son's British passport in December and I had the interview in February but we are still waiting to for his passport. Both parents are British. My questions are how long does it generally take to get the passport in Mumbai? Which Indian authorities do they get in touch with so I can make sure that there is no stuck up? They haven't even yet contacted our counter signatory. He has Indian passport.
I am very worried as we are separated, my husband and older child are in the UK and my son and I are here in India

Passports from India can take 6 to 12 months.
Counter signatories are not often contacted.

Oh no really!! Anything we can do to expedite the process. I am so worried it's been 5 months already I don't think we can do another 6 separated like this

Hello,
I applied for my son's passport in march from Nigeria, march 16th. My husband was Interviewed on April 16th and passport was printed May 14th. I got his passport today. If it is taking so long you can contact your mp to email the HMPO office. It can help speed up the process or help you know what's going on.

HMPO uses DHl to deliver passport and supporting documents.
