Can we directly apply for Child's Neutralisation?

Dear All,
Our son was born in UK in 2015, when we did not have indefinite leave to remain (ILR). Now we are going to apply for ILR next month. So, in place of applying ILR for our son together with us, if we simply wait to get our ILR first; then after that, Can we directly apply for his neutralisation (without applying ILR)?
Our son still has 1 year VISA left till Jun'19, that should be sufficient to arrive our ILR and apply his neutralisation.

PS: We found on GOV.UK website a GUIDE MN1 document that says following rule (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... y_2017.pdf ;page 8, bottom line), but still not sure!

Children born in the UK – Section 1(3) and 1(3A) application
Section 1(3) - A child born in the UK whose parents are not British citizens and were not settled in the UK will have an entitlement to register when one of their parents become settled in the UK or become British citizens.

Many thanks for your advice and help.
Gaurav

As your son was born here, you can apply to register him as a british citizen using form MN1 when you get your ILR.

Thanks!! Also, I believe, we can apply for our son's Neutralisation immediately after our ILR?

Children register, not naturalise.

Many Thanks Vinny!
At present, my son has an Indian Passport with a Tier 2 (dependent) Visa. So, you mean, after we will get ILR, then he need to registered first, and then Neutralisation process (submission of Indian Passport and get British passport)?
Thanks!!!!

There is no naturalisation process for children. Only registration is applicable for children. Child may apply for a British passport directly after registration is granted.

In effect it is the same thing, net result is British passport. Adults need naturalisation whereas children only register.

If your child was born after you had an ILR, then you directly apply for British Passport. If your child is born you had ILR, then as soon as either of the parent gets an ILR, the child is eligible to "Register as British Citizen".

If the above is still not clear to you then all you need to do is:

Step1) Use MN1 Form to register your child as british citizen (Once you have ILR in hand).
Step2) Once you receive the registration certificate, use that and apply for his british passport.

In simple words ( Register as British Citizen) = Naturalisation.

You don't need to do anything else as Vinny said.
