Can anyone suggest the very best way to proceed with this.
In short the child born in 2003
Not within wedlock. Mother on good terms with me
I am named on birth certificate and I'm a British Citizen etc
Child lives in Thailand. I live in the uk

How would you guys who perhaps have done it proceed. The notes on the Government website are daunting to say the least

Yes I have the relevant links thanks.
Can I ask a question which is the one bugging me more than all the rest. Do I/we not have to show at least some sort of relationship at conception of the child ??
If it was as simple as being named on the birth certificate then surely the British Immigration can say you just fathered a child for the lady on a one night stand (it was lol) to provide him/her with a British Passport ??

UKVI/HMPO could and often do ask for DNA evidence.

Mostly they do if they doubt paternity.

I don't have experience of UKF, suggest read the guidance notes carefully.
