Lost supporting document for British Passport

Hello,

as title states, DX misdelivered my supporting documents and they are lost.

I know there are other threads on the site about this, but I do have a question: the person they have delivered to claim that there wasn't my address on the envelope, he said there was no addressee at all. He then took the document to the nearest post office and ask them to return them.

No one at the post office can corroborate this and they have no idea if the documents have been sent back to DX or the Passport office.

So my question to you is, was there an address to your envelope? If the documents don't turn up, should I ask the police to look into the possibility that my neighbour might have kept the passport?

Thanks!

Yes, the envelopes will have an address on, i.e. it won't be blank.

Thank you for your reply.

to be honest, there were several inconsistencies with his story: he said that he found the envelope on the floor when he came home, but there is no chance of the envelope passing through that letter box without being bent.
In your opinion, should I go to the police?

To the police for what??

As for proof of delivery and see what it says.

Have you contacted DX Couriers of HMPO??

Yes, I have contacted them both: DX says the delivery is tagged as "Signed", but they weren't able to provide a copy of the signature or a timestamp.

Passport office says that they haven't got the documents, they were sent last week, and they haven't received them back either.

I would like to get in touch with the police as I suspect my neighbour has kept my passport: why lie about the lack of address on the envelope and returning the documents to the post office otherwise?

Hi,

Sorry to hear about this.

I will say inform the police and register your passport as lost or stolen [Try to get a passport number from Passport office so you can give it to Police], and contact Passport office to provide you with a new passport.

It could be that they can do any ID theft etc with the passport, so you can potentially stop that.

Thanks
