Hi,
I have been living and working in the UK for 10 years, and my husband is an English-speaking British citizen.
I got ILR last year and have started looking into obtaining British citizenship.
I am baffled to read that I have to prove that I am proficient in English. As far as I can see, the test required is the B1 SELT – GESE Grade 5, costs GBP 150 and last for 3-4 hours.
Are there really no further exemption I could benefit from?
Many thanks & kind regards

List of exemptions to the English language test requirement.
Even spouses of British citizens who are not exempted need to meet the English language requirement.

According to your previous post in 2016, you don't hold ILR. You have PR under the EEA Regulations which is why the B1 English test wasn't a requirement at that time.
In addition to the mandatory B1 level English qualification, you will also need to pass the Life in the UK test.

I dont believe it lasts 3-4 hours, certainly when my wife did it in March 2018, it was only 10 minutes, as they require 5 minutes on a topic you have chosen and the other 5 minutes are allocated to just a random conversation.
Unless this is has gone over my head.

You are correct CMOSUK - it is not a 3-4 hour exam.
