hi everybody,
please i need answer to my question

how many years will take
1. somebody with settlement (ILR) by long residence
2. somebody with settlement (ILR) by marriage with EU member
3. somebody with settlement (ILR) by 2.5 x 4 (using under age child)

to apply for british citizenship?

i am hearing something like 10 years in waiting before ILR can apply for british citizenship. please any clue?

British citizenship is based on 5 years residence counting back from date of citizenship application and must include a full 12 months on ILR or PR (unless married to a British citizen).

It is the same for everyone regardless of which route to ILR or PR is taken.

You 'heard' wrong.

thanks you CR001,
reason why i raised this question is that, i knew somebody who got his PR/ILR by the route of marriage with EU, but was refused british citizenship application after 12 month, and was told he has to wait 10 years to apply. though his application fee refunded.

Unusual for application fees to be refunded if it is refused.

So not sure what your actual question is then as without knowing your 'friends' full details and immigration history, it is impossible to comment.

Waiting 10 years to reapply usually refers to an applicant who has failed the good character requirement, i.e has a period of overstay, worked illegally, court conviction etc.
