Second income from new self employment - help

I'm filling in the online form and am not sure what to do with my employment.

I have a full-time job but last tax year did some freelance side work that went over the tax treshold of £1000 for side income. I'll have to register as a sole trader and do a tax return - the sole trader deadline is October 2018 and the tax return is January 2019, so I haven't done either yet.

Do I need to declare this side job? If I do, I have no documents I can provide as I've had no communications with HMRC about this yet. I'm worried if I don't declare this I will get into trouble, but if I do declare it I won't have any proof for it?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you ring hmrc they will give you exact date in which you registered for sole trader

I advice to mention this date and if you still doing it then mention on going if you stop wrokign and reported to hmrc they will also tell you.

Mention will not harm and they don't want any proof for that
