Working with residence permit on another EU country

Hi folks,

I have been granted an ILR after 5 years on Tier-2 at the beginning of August 2018. I just received a job offer in Luxembourg and the employer is happy to sort out the visa/residence permit in Luxembourg for myself as I have a non-EU passport.

Assuming I do not surpass the 180-day threshold since I do own a property in the UK, would I still be able to apply for Naturalisation in August 2019.

Basically, I would be working and paying tax in another country than the UK, however, I would be coming back to the UK for the weekends and holidays.

Thanks a lot

No you won't qualify as your absence will be too high and you won't be living in the UK.

There is no "180 days" absence limit for citizenship.

You are required to have no more than 450 days absence in the 5 years immediately preceding date of application and no more than 90 days absence in the final 12 months.

If you are not living and working in the UK, you won't be eligible.

Note also that ILR could be lost after absence of 2 or more years.
