hi,

after successfully received my certificate of naturalisation today, I tried to apply for the passport online. However, the questions are very confusing.

Why do I have to give details of my parents?

This info below displays on the following page of the online application:

"We need information about the applicant's parents to confirm if the applicant is eligible for a British passport. Please provide as much information as you can. The application may be delayed if you don't and we may need to contact you for more information."

But I received naturalisation certificate already?!

And also I have to give information about my grandparents, but I have no clue. Why do they need all these?

Parents or grand parents details are not required as you are applying on the basis of naturalisation. The application forms cover all possible scenarios of a claim to British citizenship.

Parents details are required. It is also a identity check issue and often used to verify things if called for an interview.

Grandparent details are not required.

It shows as "it must be entered", I entered my parents' details and ignore grandparents details. Thank you for your help
