Non-UK countersignatories for passport applications

Can anyone advise on how typically the passport office contacts countersignatories who are outside the UK? My countersignatory is in the US and usually avoids picking up unknown calls. He wants to know whether the passport office typically calls from a +44 number, so he can make sure he receives all calls bearing a country code of +44.
