Dear Members

I was hoping if you could help me with the following case.
My immigration history looks like this

2008: Arrived in the UK
2009-2011: Part-time bar job with cash in hand, no NI contributions or income tax, cash in hand
2010-2011: UK university
2012-2017: Proper job after Uni

Form AN Application form (version 09/18) Page 11 of 31
1.50 Employment history in UK during past 10 years, or since date of entry if you have been
here for less than 10 years (continue on page 22 and use additional sheets if needed).

Guidance notes state:
1.45 - 1.50 In some cases, if you have ever been in breach of immigration law, you may be asked to provide details of all your National Insurance contributions made for your current and previous employment during the past 10 years. If you are required to provide these details, the evidence can be in the form of payslips, P60s covering the relevant period, or a letter(s) from the employer(s) confirming you have worked for them, from the start and finish date.

My question is about the part-time job I did during 2009-2011. I have already delcared it in the EEA residence application and had no issues. It was a long time ago and I did only a handful of shifts a week, cash in hand and paid no insurance or NI. However, would that be fine considering I was on a very small income? <£5000 year.

Do you think it could present an issue for the naturalisation application?

I keep getting responses from some people I know that they only declared only the past 6 years since they thought this counted as the "Qualifying period" and had their applications successfully approved. This approach would be fine for me as I have been gainfully employed for the past 6 years as mentioned before.

If I was to declare as the period of work before the period counting towards my residence (<5 years) would the non-payment of income tax or NI constitute an issue even though it was on a small income?

Thanks cyclina1

To add to the thread above about this period in question.
2009-2011: Part-time bar job with cash in hand, no NI contributions or income tax, cash in hand

During this period I also have not had Comprehensive Sickness Insurance (CSI). However, my EEA Permanent residence permit was based on the period 2012 - 2017. During which I was fully employed. Do you think that because I had no CSI before my qualifying period (6) years then that would be an issue?

To address my question above again should I just declare the period of 6 years or should I declare whatever I did before that?

Apologies for writing right under my last post as I the forum does not allow edits.

Also had no CSI in the period of:
2010-2011: UK university when I was at Uni. Would that be an issue?

My advice don't mention 2009-2011: Part-time bar job with cash in hand, no NI contributions or income tax, cash in hand in your application.
I have been through this problems. Your application can be refused.
