A British passport is a travel document. It is not conclusive proof of your British citizenship. British passports issued in error do not make you a British citizen.

The naturalisation certificate is what makes you a British citizen. In future, if you have a problem proving your British citizenship, it is the naturalisation certificate that proves that you are a British citizen. The passport can only be used as proof of identity.
