3 Years OR 5 Years for Naturalisation

Hi Guys

Bit confused about 3 years OR 5 years rule.

My wife got Set M approved couple of days ago after spending 5 years on Flr M and before that she spent 6 months as Tier 1 dependant.

Now we are bit confused whether we need to take 3 years residency into account OR 5 years.

If 3 years than she was out of country from Jan 2106 to March 2016 therefore I believe that we need to wait till end of March 2019 to apply for her naturalisation.

If 5 years then we are ok to apply now as she was in country back in Jan 2014.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Any guidance will be much appreciated.

She has ILR through Set M.

are you British national? If you are, then she can apply through 3 year route, if you are only on ILR, then its 5 years.

I think its better to be safe than sorry so we would apply when we will be fine in either case 3 or 5 years.

thanks for your input guys.
