Dear All

Need your advise on the below

I am a british Citizen. Me and my family, we moved out of UK couple of years ago. I am working here in the Middle East and did'nt get a chance to travel back to uk during this time

we use to get child benefits but I cancelled these before travelling out of UK. We never claimed any other benefits whilst we were there

Do you think there will be an issue if we are staying out of UK for that long and will this affect our british citizenship?

There is no adverse impact on you status - British citizens are free to stay out of country and anywhere they wish, at will and without time limits..

What is the UK immigration status of your spouse?

Your British citizenship will not be impacted by your absence from the UK. But if your spouse is not a British citizen, s/he may have to start their immigration journey from scratch.

Thank you guys for your prompt reply

Yes my Wife is also British, we both got our nationalities about 7-8 yrs ago. our kids, 6 and 4 were born in the UK and hold British Nationalities as well.
So we can stay out of UK for as long as possible and this will not be an issue.

Thanks again
