I am applying for BC this year but I find it difficult to understand the part for the referees where one of them needs to be with professional stand.
Within the list with available professions there is Engineer, but it doesn't specify what kind of engineer.
Do you think Software Engineer is a qualified person to be my referee?

No, not a software engineer.

It refers to an electrical/mechanical/civil etc engineer who are registered by an engineering regulatory body.
