Hello,

I came to UK in 2007 as a student and remained a student until 2011, 2011 -> 2013 I was on PSW, then 2013 I got Tier 2 Visa.

Completed 5 years on Tier 2 in March 2018 and got ILR on same day based on Tier2 - 5 yrs , just planning ahead for naturalisation for March 19 and stumbled on a question for Residence requirements.

2.1 Date and place of first arrival in the United Kingdom (see page 8 of the Guide)

Should this be the date of my Tier 2? as my ILR was based on that or should this be date from 2007 when I actually arrived in UK?

Guide says "2.1 Enter the day you first arrived with a view to staying in the UK on a long-term basis, and the airport or seaport through which you then entered. "

When I entered in 2007 I did not arrive with a view for long-term basis though.

Should be 2007 - whilst it wasn't your intention at the time but you still stayed on.

As alterhase58 says, I would put 2007 when you arrived as a student. The golden rule with any applications is to keep your responses consistent between your applications.

I entered as 2013 because my application was based on Tier 2, hence my question.

If I recall correctly, doesn't the question in the Naturalisation Application ask:-

When did you first arrive in the UK?

and I think this falls under the section where they say, unless I have it confused:-

You must not have:
• spent more than 270 days outside of the UK in the 3 year period, or 450 days in the 5 year period
• been outside the UK for more than 90 days in the last 12 months
• been in the UK illegally in the 3 or 5 year qualifying period

where they are making sure you comply with the 5+1 or 3+1 yrs absences?

so if it was when you first arrived, I have no doubt it is 2007 - but as you mentioned being consistent on applications hence my further explanation that I entered as "2013" on ILR application and the question says "with a view to staying in UK on a long-term basis" + airport name too.

What all docs do I need to provide for proof of living over 5 years? How many docs should I provide?

I've scanned all documents on UKVCAS website.

Proof of Application: Passport (Full passport pages in two PDF's)
Residence in UK: ILR - BRP
Education: Masters Degree, Life in the UK Test
Identity/Travel History: Driving License, Old Passport covering 5 years
Other: 2 Referee Forms - Should this be under other cateogory?
Life Events: Marriage Certificate

Anything I missed?
