Referee made a mistake

Hi,
My child has British passport and I had applied to renew the passport online.
My son is 5 years old. We had asked a referee to verify the application. However, he made a mistake in entering the date of birth.
Is there something that can be done to remediate it?
Should i withdraw the application and reapply again(not sure how to do that)?

Update: Called the passport office and they said it is fine. Just include a note and they will contact the referee.

Do we need a referee for a passport? I thought this was only needed for Naturalisation!

You need someone to confirm identity of the child for the British Passport. It is done online.
