Hello everyone,

I am in the process of filling in online form NC for a duplicate certificate. The website states "You’ll usually be able to keep your documents while your application is being processed", however, as I was going through the application, they requested from me to send my passport which I am really not keen on doing so.

I have read many horror stories on forums about applications taking months and months to be processed.

Has anyone had recent experience with this application? Do they send back the passport quickly? Shouldn't home office reference number and date of registration suffice to look me up?

There was even a section for passport details that I filled in, can't they just verify it as DVLA do?

I am in a catch 22 situation where I want to renew my passport soon (and do name change) and the certificate details are required to be filled in the passport application. I also need my passport for upcoming travels as well.

Unfortuntely one cannot expect the system to adjust to individual needs,
why they dont verify like DLVA does is an internal matter we cannot question.
Naturalisation cert is required only for first passport not for renewals. It takes 10 days to get ur new passport and your old passport is returned one day after the new passport.
