Dear moderators,

Need your help please. After attending my citizenship ceremony, I cut out my brp card and sent it through post as advised by home office. Unfortunately it got lost by Royal mail and now I am dreading that I will be penalized. Can someone advise what should I do now?

I tracked it via Royal mail website and it isn't showing that it's been delivered. Also called them yesterday and they didn't know what happened so they advised me to make a compensation claim.

This address was written on my approval letter.

Was it a Freeport address?

You do realise that proof of delivery to a po box is difficult and often doesn't end up showing it as delivered

I am not sure what's a Freeport address. We used Royal mail signed for 1st class.

Won't be signed for to a po box though.

Freeport address, at no charge, is below.

Freepost RRYX-GLYU-GXHZ
Returns Unit
PO Box 163
Bristol
BS20 1AB

Unlikely you will be penalised anyway.

One more question please. Is it necessary to send my passport application with supporting documents in the envelope that comes with the form or I can use my own envelope? The envelope that comes with the application form is not safe to use as I will be sending very important documents.

You can use the check and send method at the post office and have some peace of mind. It might cost you up to £100 in total.

Its better and easier to apply online. All u need to send is the naturalization certificate, you uncancelled passport/s and 2 photos. Post office check costing around £10 is a waste of money and often people say delayed. Any envelope is ok.

Dear moderators,

Can someone kindly provide the address of where to send the passport application?

It is on the envelope you got with the form and guidance notes from the post office!! There is more than one passport processing office.

Or if online, the details will be provided during the process.

If you apply online, after the person countersigning your application has done their bit, you'll get an email with a specific instructions on where to mail your application.

Dear moderators,

I posted my first British passport application on Monday and the Royal mail website is showing that HMPO received my application yesterday through special delivery. But I have not received any confirmation from HMPO via text or email that my application has been received. I have seen here on this forum that people get text from HMPO acknowledging their application and documents received. Do I need to worry or contact them?

Why don't you simply stop stressing about every aspect and be patient. If they have received it they will be in touch at some point.

It takes several days after the document arrives at HMPO before it is sorted and loaded on the system. It can even take up to a week, so don't worry.
