Dear experts,
My cousine whose name is AK gonna apply British passport for his baby boy who born recently in India.

He just noticed that his wife surname printed or replaced with Ajith's Surname.

Ajith's wife's maiden name is : ST.
And the same name is printed in her Passport and all govt Identification documents.

Recently Ajith received his baby boy DOB or Birth certificate and noticed his wife's surname printed as : SK instead of ST ( K is Ajiths (Husband's) surname).

Would this be a problem if he go and apply British passport with this DOB certificate for his kid?
Or is it mandatory to change wife's surname ?

Really appreciate if you can advise on this . Thanks in advance. Have a good day.

Best Regards
Tarun

My question was, what is the basis of the child's claim to British citizenship? Was the father or the mother a British citizen at the time of birth of the child?
