Statutory Declaration

Good afternoon Board Members,

I am due to apply for citizenship next month.
Last year during July 2018, I was caught by the police for the loose chain on my motorcycle.
They have asked me to get my bike serviced and submit a report to the nearest police station and eventually, I did.
In the meantime, I changed accommodation and did not realize I was getting a letter to deposit fine in my absence. This year in July I got to know from Collectica that A Court order has been issued and you have to pay fine. I called HMCTS London and they have advised me to submit STATUTORY DECLARATION to the court and submit your request as you have not received the letters as I moved address.

So, my question is as I visited court and fine has been waived off will it effect my application for citizenship?

Many Thanks
Shek

Hello

Similar situation happened to me. I sold a car then moved. The paper I sent to the DVLA never reached them. They sent letters back to me to confirm if I sold the car or not. The postman just post them through the door even if I didn't leave there any longer.

Long story short, I was made aware about it when it went to court and somehow the court sent a letter to my new address (they must have checked with the council or something).

I paid £500 over the phone and the case against me was dropped immediately. Case closed.

I didn't affect my naturalization and I don't think it would affect yours.

Hi Zerubbabel,

Hope you are doing good!!
Thanks for taking out valuable time and answering to my question.
In my case, I was supposed to pay £880. On communication over the phone HMCTS suggested to apply for Statutory Declaration. I went to court and charges dropped to £130 as I explained my case.
Lets see how it goes.
Due to apply soon.
Hopefully it should to effect.

Many Thanks,

No worries mate. Hope it will work for you.

In my case, it didn't go to court as I pay everything (fine + fees) over the phone just days before the case hearing and everything was dropped.
