Citizenship for an ILR status holder family

Hi,

We all hold an ILR status since Aug 2019 and our situation is as follows:

Main applicant and 3 dependents (a spouse, a 13 years old son and a 19 years old son).

My questions are:

1) Can I apply to register my 13 years old son (who is born abroad) as a British Citizen immediately after he gained his ILR status as both parents hold ILR as well, or should I wait for 12 months similar to the adults?

2) At the end of the 12 months period, which route is easier for us; a family application including the 2 parents and the 13 years old son or separate applications for each member of the family?

3) At the end of the 12 months period, does my19 years old son need to apply separately, or can he apply with us as a family application (knowing that we all got our ILR through one application form)?

I would really appreciate your advice. Many thanks.

1. No you can't. He can apply when either parent is also applying.

2. Makes no difference, each person applying is assessed individually.

3. Citizenship has nothing to do with the route or way you got ilr. The 19 year might have to apply on their own form.

Thank you very much for this CR001.

One more question please regarding the 13 year child: is it better or doesn't make a difference if we include him with the parents in a family application, or parents apply and get their citizenship first, then apply for the son?

Your advice on this is highly appreciated. Many thanks.

Thank you very much for this information, I have 1 more question please: which form shall I use for registering the 13 year old, is it MN1? Also, which section shall I choose for him as he was born abroad? Many thanks.

Mn1 and section 3(1) or the "other" option in the online form.
