Hello
I am applying for my childs first British passport but I am confused.
I have seen the requirements but i dont understand what supporting documents are needed, as it says i need a document which which proves link to myself (father). Does that mean I need to do DNA test?
It also says i need proof of address, is that for the parents or child?
Thank you

No, it refers to the birth certificate where both parents are named on it.

Well, the child normally lives with the parents, so it’s a proof where all of you live. Don’t overthink it, just submit a proof of address where you (parent) live.

Submit everything about the birth of your child including her mothers identity, education as they usually ask you a lot of unnecessary documents and DNA is not mentioned in the guidance if both parents are married but they do ask in some certain cases.

Initially, i was going to apply for British passport for my newborn baby from Pakistan but the forum gave me an easy option. That is to apply for Certificate of Entitlement Right of Abode. It will take 5 days to process and then if you come to UK, then apply for British Passport within the UK as it is lot easier and quick as well.

You need to follow the very limited documents asked for in the passport form. It is not a difficult application. You are not making an immigration one that requires lots of documents.

Dear Imran Syed

I have recently gone through this process, and am happy to offer some assitance.

Presuming your child is a citizen at birth, you will need to provide the following documents for their passport, which is normally processed within 6 months.

Documents required:

Overseas passport application form (unfortunately, must be handfilled, as they do not yet facilitate online applications for pakistan)
Father passport ATOC(At Time of Conception)
Mother passport ATOC(At Time of Conception)
Father NADRA Card
Mother NADRA Card
Child JV Card(same as nadra card, it is issued to children under 18) [Alternative to NADRA CRC]
NADRA FRC(can be applied for online, using NADRA card numbers)
Hospital Child Birth Certificate
Child vaccination records
mother antenatal records
NADRA/Union Council/Municipal Committe Birth Registration Certificate
Mother/Father Marraige Certificate (NADRA or UC/Municipal Committee)
wedding/marriage Photographs

If I can be of further assitance, please do not hesitate to ask.

Regards
