Return of my corrected naturalisation certificate delayed

My UK naturalisation certificate was issued on October the 8th when I had my naturalisation ceremony at the Weybridge Register office. I noticed that my name was wrong in the certificate and this was not my fault as the information I provided in my application is correct. Therefore, I posted it back (together with the form and current passport) to the address below on October 11th by secure tracked Royal Mail delivery. The proof of delivery indicates that my documents were received and signed for on October 14th at 10:00 am. However, I have not received my corrected certificate so far (almost 3 weeks). I need my certificate to apply for my first British Passport. I need this to travel for work urgently. What should I do?

I suggest you phone and request passport back as not required.

Thanks. The passport they hold is my Cuban passport but cannot travel with it as my EU family residence expires on Dec 09 so I can depart from the UK but cannot return with it. Need my certificate asap to get my British passport.

Sadly, there is no SLA for this kind of things. You can just hope they will do it asap but don't plan any trip as you may not know when you get the certificate. Also, once you get it, you need to apply for a passport and this can take time too.

Mine took just over 2 months recently. Others here got the corrected certificate in 3-4 weeks this year, so it varies. I emailed them chasing, but got a response from another department just confirming receipt in a week (which helped as Royal Mail couldn't confirm).

You may try emailing explaining your travel plans, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Phoning may also help but only if they put you through. They may leave a note but probably not much help here.

Unbelievable as the wrong certificate was not my fault. Plus I travel a lot for work.

Would you recommend a phone number?: I did phone the one they give on line but you have too many options, none of it related and cannot get through to an operator

Any help would be great

Thanks!

Others may have a better phone number or know what option to choose. I emailed:

Citizenship.Support@homeoffice.gov.uk

But I never got a timeline response, just the certificate in the post eventually.
