Additional passport(s) and travel document(s)

Hi,

Despite me sending the passport with my Naturalisation application, Home Office sent me a letter asking for all the original passport(s) and travel document(s) covering the last 5 years period and to do this by October 22nd 2019 (which was last month) - their letter is sent on November the 8th 2019 and received today, November 13th 2019.

Indeed, I renewed my passport three years ago - but I do not have the old passport, it was destroyed.

Perhaps they want the travel/flight tickets? What am I missing?

Any advice? Thank you.

UKVI can and does occasionally request originals though the dating of the letter is strange.
Not sure what "travel documents" refers to - could perhaps be a national ID card. Do you have a national ID card which covers the period in question? If you don't have a copy of the old passport then you need to explain the reasons in your reply, when sending your current passport. Do you have copies of correspondence/forms from your embassy regarding the passport application - might be useful to provide.

I am a Romanian national - I do have a national ID card. But I have already sent them my passport. Not sure if I want to send the ID card, too - in case the passport has not been received or is lost? I did receive previously a letter in which they acknowledged receiving my supporting documents, passport included.

This is rather strange, especially given that it doesn't mention the kind of document they expect to see.

Did you last enter the UK on your passport or on your ID card? I remember the application form asking to include the travel document that was last used to enter the UK. If you entered on your ID card, maybe that is what want to see.

On a side note, my home country's government always cancel and keep/destroy the old passport once a new/replacement is issued, so a person can only ever hold one. Is this the case with Romania as well? If so, perhaps you could explain this in a letter to the HO?

Either way, any old passport numbers (assuming HO keep record of people and their passport numbrers used to enter the UK) ought to show as up as cancelled once your old passport(s) is destroyed.
