Dear all,

Looking for advice.

My son was born recently in India to myself his British mother and his Indian father.

I am on an X visa and my husband has only ever visited the UK on sports or tourist visas. Also we were married in UK in 2017.

I have a daughter born in UK who was automatically granted a passport.

What is the best process for my son?

Indian passport and then apply from uk or British passport from beginning.

Can you tell me how much it will cost?

Indian passport and then apply from uk or British passport from beginning.
A British passport from India can take 16 weeks and up to a year. You could apply for an Indian passport and then apply for a Certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode (CoE RoA), link below. Costs a few hundred pounds and an take up to 12 weeks.

Once in the UK with the child you can apply for a British passport, the CoE/RoA will be cancelled in this case as the child cannot hold CoE/RoA and a British passport.
