You don't have to provide proof, but you have to provide accurate dates.

In my case, I did it to the month. List March 2012 to April 2015... No specific day as I couldn't be 100% sure from it.

You can contact your previous employers HR to ask for reference letters. They put on them when you start and when you stopped working there.

Mention dates as best as you remember them. Months/ Years if you can't remember exact dates. If you want to be accurate you can apply for your HMRC SAR https://www.gov.uk/guidance/hmrc-subje ... ss-request but that takes minimum 1 month.

Thanks guys just one more question. I started doing some self employed work starting from mid march, so it was only 2 weeks work and made less than £1000 income. On HMRC website it says if your income is less than £1000 for the yr then you dont have to submit your tax return.

On the citizenship form, I mentioned I am doing self employed work currently now its asking for a proof of tax return of last year. What should I do?

Thanks

Most recent tax return and account statement

Hey guys,

I am registered as self employed, started working as self employed from march this yr. One of the requirement says "most recent tax year account statement and corresponding HMRC tax return as proof of self-employment"

I got the tax return submission confirmation from HMRC, I'll attach that, what about this account statement? is that the bank account statement they want or the tax return statement details from HMRC?

My sopra appointment is in 2 days please reply.

Thanks

Also is BRP evidence of that freedom of immigration laws thing? I am not from EEA and not married to a British national but I do have ILR based on 10 yr long residency.

Yes, BRP/ILR is evidence of "freedom from immigratoin restrictions".

Regarding your query re. tax account statement, it certainly wouldn't be a bank statement as they are not accepted. Not too familiar with self-employed, but your self-assessment return should be sufficient.

Submitted my application and did the biometrics on 28th nov thanks for your help guys. Now my first referee is a doctor working for Nhs and the other one non professional, both are my close friends and British citizens. Are doctors acceptable? 😳

Doctors are not on the HO approved list. If ho is not happy with your referee, they will likely ask you for another one.

If the y ask for another referee then it’s fine my concern is if they reject the application just because of that. That’s a lot of money to lose for nothing 😳 if they reject the ILR still remains?

A refused citizenship application does not affect your ILR.

Jason32, did you submit your application yet with a doctor friend as a professional referee?
Did they accept it?

I am in the same situation, have 4 doctor friends, a retired barrister and a retired civil servant but don't know any other professionals.
