Hi,
I have applied for my British passport yesterday after receiving the nationality certificate followed by the ceremony. My question is would my wife (dependant) be able to apply for Naturalization once i receive my British passport or wait until April 2020?
She got her ILR in April 2019. She has been in UK since 2013 as mine Tier 1 Entrepreneur dependant.
Thank you in advance.

She can apply now if she meets the 3 year residence requirements.

Thank you for your quick response. You mean after i get the passport or she can apply today without waiting for my British passport? and 3 year residency rules are that she should be out of the country more then 270 days in last 3 years? Also if she is present in country 3 days ago at the time of application?

She only needs your certificate of naturalisation NOT the British passport. A passport is only a travel document and not proof of your citizenship.

Correct.

Correct.

Thank you CR001 for your quick reply and confirmation. It is very much appreciated. I just calculated the days and she has spent 298 days outside UK in last 3 years. She will be able to apply in Feb 2020 then it will be 261 days in last 3 years.
One more thing. How the days are calculated. For example if she travelled from 05th Jan 2019 to 9th Jan 2019; does that count as 4 days or 5 days if both entry and exit days are included?

3 days. Entry/exit dates are considered as being present within UK.
90 in past 12 months
270 total in past 3 years (Inclusive of 90 days)

With that formula she has spent 277 days in 21 trips. Well i guess there is no other option but to wait until Feb 2020.
Thank you for your quick reply and help.

The “formula” has been stipulated by the Home office.
I’d strongly suggest that you and everyone else closely read the naturalisation guidance.
You might find that ur spouse may get away with being 7 days over the limit.
