Please could someone please confirm if the 3-year rule for the spouse to apply for naturalisation applies to the children if the spouse is not applying at the same time?

Can the children apply after 3 years instead of waiting for 5 years?

What is the child immigration status?

The children have ILR which they were granted at the same time as the mother but the parents cannot afford to pay for naturalisation for all applicants at the same time. The children will be 18 years soon and so they are priority to be registered but they are not sure if they can do it without the mother applying at the same time

Children born abroad will only qualify to apply for citizenship when either parent is also applying (or is already British) and the other parent holds ILR.

so just to be clear - they can apply now? No need to wait for 5 years? The father is already British and mother has ILR.

Yes, provided they have at least 2 years residence and ILR.
