Procedure for child British passport

Post by naija99 » Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:11 am

Please could gurus advise on following scenario
2005 Father naturalised as a British citizen
2006 son born in Albania
2020 son arrived in UK (not sure whether he had a visa) and child wishes to remain with father in UK
Mother and other siblings reside in Albania with no status

Can child remain in UK and go to school
Can child apply for a British passport from within the UK or does it have to be an overseas application

Yes, assuming parents are married to each other or father satisfies prescribed requirements as to proof of paternity.

Provided the father was married to the mother at the time of birth of the child, the child can apply directly for a British passport with the father’s naturalisation certificate and the child’s birth certificate.

If the parents were not married at the time of birth, the child may need to be registered using Form UKF.

Thanks secret.simon

He was married but they cannot locate the marriage certificate which is somewhere back in Albania. They did not regard it as too important.
He was going to do a DNA paternity test just to safe guard himself. Would this not be sufficient?
