Proof of residence for BC (EU national, self employed)

Hi!

I'm self-employed and have been for the last 7 years. What would be a sufficient proof of residence for HO in my case when applying for citizenship? I'm an EU national so no stamps in my passport.

Use your HMRC self-assessment tax returns.

So one for each year will suffice?

Yes - it's like a P60 for employed people.

Which date the 12 months after getting EU settled status counts from?

Hi! I'm a bit confused about the wording in various places so if someone could clarify I'll be very grateful.

I successfully applied for the EU Settlement Scheme settled status. In the email from HO there's a line saying "Your status takes effect from the date of this letter, which can be found above." (today) but the dates I've used as my proof of being in UK for 5 years continuously were from April 2014 until April 2019. Does this mean I can apply for the Citizenship after April 2020 or do I have to wait until February 2021 because the 12 months start from when I received the HO letter?

You are confusing PR under EU regulations and Settled Status which is UK regulations. For settled status you cannot pick the five year period as you could for PR. Therefore, you need to wait 12 months from date of letter. If you had PR already you could apply now. It is also explained in the AN guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-guidance

You're right, yes, I'm confusing these two. So if I wanted to apply for a citizenship asap, I should have applied for PR? Can I have both? Do I still have to wait 12 months if I'm married to a British Citizen?

No need to wait 12 months if married to a British citizenship and the application will be based on the last 3 years residence immediately preceding the application date.
