Is the 5 day limit for returning the BRP after British citizenship ceremony still in force?

Hi Everyone,

I have read on on several posts around the forum that the BRP needs to be returned to the home office with 5 days of the citizenship ceremony. However, I noticed that there is no time limit mentioned on my naturalisation approval letter. It just says that BRP card must be returned after receiving the citizenship certificate.
Does anyone know if the 5 day limit is still in force or this has been recently changed? I need to go on a business trip shortly after my ceremony and it would help a lot if I could hold onto my BRP card for about a month after my ceremony and return it after my trip.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi

There is no specific time frame on the document. But once you attend the ceremony, you are British Citizen and you cannot use that card for travel or any other purpose.

If you use it, it can be seized at the border and could get you in further trouble.

Suggest schedule your ceremony till after your business trip.
