2 quick questions regarding British passports

Hi all,
My wife and two children have all been granted their British citizenships, and now we want to send in the documents for their British passports (online filled out and photo checks completed).
1. It says "send in the passport used to travel to the UK", that would actually mean sending in the cancelled old passports also? All 3 were renewed as expired in the 5 years been here. No name changes in that time.
2. Can we send all 3 passport applications together in same envelope as the same family, or should it be three different postage?
Thanks!

HMPO asks for all uncancelled passports to be sent for first passport applications. This includes expired ones which are not cancelled (e.g. punctured or have a cut corner). If your expired ones are not physically modified in any way to indicate they are now cancelled, it would probably be best to send those as well.

The address label that is given to you at the end of the application form includes a unique reference number for each applicant. Different applications (i.e. ref numbers) may be assigned to different caseworkers even if the HMPO address is the same. Depending on how the envelopes are handled, allocated, and opened it may be best to send separate envelopes for each person individually with their unique reference number printed on the label.

Thanks for your reply.
I put each application (with both passports) in its own envelope and put all three in a jiffy bag and sent it special delivery (noted the application number and name on each envelope) and then added each application number on the jiffy bag.
When i got to the post office the woman asked if any child ones in there and i said yes 1..and she replied it was a good idea to put all 3 in the same bag.
I then get back to my desk and randomly checked the emails again...and realised the child passport had to be sent to a different address in Newport! Talk about a schoolboy error!
I RAN back to the post office but was told its already gone. The woman i sent it with was gone, but another woman said as its the passport office, they may send it themselves on to the new address...or they will send it back.
Cant belive i did that....all the visas i have done in the past with no errors...then a stupid mistake on the address at the finish line!
