It depends what your full immigration history is for the 10 years prior to applying for Citizenship.

Given that you have asked several questions for 'friends' in the past, it is not easy to work out what your true circumstances are from older topics/posts.

Please also refrain from posting in CAPITAL letters, it is the same as SHOUTING.

Forum Netiquette (click)
General Note:
Please do not write in all capitals, AS THIS IS MUCH HARDER TO READ (and appears to be shouting)!

Hi,

My understanding has always been when applying for naturalisation as a British citizen, any periods of overstaying or illegally staying in the country would lead to a refusal (unless exceptional or at the discretion of the home office).

I understand you where granted leave to remain in 2012, before this you did not have any continous lawful stay, I believe therefore if counting 10 years from 2012 when you where granted leave to remain and of it has been continous lawful stay, you may be better to apply for an application of naturalisation in the year 2022.

This is based on the fact before your first grant in 2012 you had no lawful stay even though you had let known UK authorities of your presence or had reporting notifications.

According to the:
Naturalisation booklet - the requirements (booklet AN)

Page page 5-6 titled:
Breach of immigration law

To meet the residence requirements, you should not have been in breach of immigration
law during the residential qualifying period. You should have been here legally. This means you must have had the necessary permission under the immigration laws to be in
the UK. You may be refused if you have been in breach of immigration laws during the
residential qualifying period. This is especially relevant if you came to the UK as an
asylum seeker and your application for refugee status and any appeals were refused
during this period.

If you came to the UK as an asylum seeker and/or as an illegal entrant (for example if you
entered the UK clandestinely) you must have evidence that you were here legally during
the residential qualifying period. You may be in breach of immigration laws during the
residential qualifying period if you had exhausted all your appeal rights and had not left the
country, even if you were subsequently given indefinite leave to remain as a concession. If
you were not covered by temporary leave to remain during the whole residential qualifying
period while appeals were under consideration, then your application will fail on breach of
immigration conditions.
Just because you were given indefinite leave to remain does not mean that we will
automatically disregard the time you were in breach of immigration laws during the
residential qualifying period. Any immigration offences will also be considered as part of the
good character requirement. This includes immigration breaches in the 10-year period
before you apply for naturalisation
– see the section on good character.

If incorrect please do correct me.

Bro as per our conversation

We should write to MP to ask Home office when to apply Nationality

After completing 10 years on leave or after 7 years

because we are in uk from 2002

I think now the mentioned in detail that if you were illegal but was present in Home office system
like you were reporting so they will count 10 years from that date

If what your saying is true that will be great. Because i still have my Asylum Arc card since i came to the country in 2002 and i was given 2 years DLR from December 2003 to 2005 (UNTIL I REACHED 18 YEARS OLD). I got refused the extension in 2005 and stayed waiting with no documents until i started signing/reporting in their centre in 2009 and given DLR outside immigration law in 2011.

I have contacted my Mp who suggested that I should only ask the Home office when is the 10 years counted? after i complete 1 year of my Ilr. Which is in the beginning of February 2019

Hi friends
I have contacted Mp
Home office Reply me as standard email because every person have individual circumstances and depend on criminal record and period of time
They just send me standard link as below

Thank you for your email correspondence of J with enclosure on behalf of Mr of Drive, London, about his immigration matter.

If Mr y requires information regarding the application process for British citizenship, information about the requirements can be found on our website at
http://www.gov.uk/becoming-a-british-ci ... sh-citizen
For further help or advice about the UK's Immigration Rules and requirements, it is open for Mr Chudhary to seek advice from a qualified immigration adviser. In the UK, the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) regulates immigration advisers. The OISC website, which can be found at: www.oisc.gov.ukhttp://www.oisc.gov.uk, provides a list of immigration advisers. Applicants can also obtain advice from qualified professionals who are members of an approved professional body, including the Law Society. Further information can be found on our website at: www.gov.uk/find-an-immigration-adviserh ... on-adviser.

I hope you find this information useful.

Yours sincerely
