UKVCAS and supporting documents

Hi,
I'm really confused. I've attended by biometrics appointment with UKVCAS and uploaded about 5 documents for me and my brother, as we applied together. The referee forms, english language proof etc. were not listed as mandatory proof. I figured we had to upload them somewhere else and didn't think about it much.
Yesterday at the appointment I was told references and anything else wasn't mandatory, only my passport copy and brother's birth certificate, parental responsibility and passport. But on the supporting documents list when I log onto gov.uk the list is longer, including things like life in the uk (although I think that gets sent automatically), english language, parents passports etc.
So my question is, Is what I have done fine or do I still have time to upload the other documents that they asked for but weren't made clear to me as mandatory? The man who did our biometrics said he would submit our application yesterday but through UKVCAS I still have the option to upload more, although I don't know if it'll go through if it's submitted.
Thank you.
