MN1 application panick! All advise appreciated

Hi forum,

We are panicking a little, so any help is appreciated.

We submitted for our daughter's MN1 British citizenship naturalisation in December 2019.

Child born in UK (2016)
Father granted ILR : 4 Dec 2019
MN1 application submitted for our daughter : 13 Dec 2019
At : Sopra Steira Birmingham
It has been close to 12 weeks (2 days short).

My daughter was previously on Tier-2 dependent which expired on 30 November 2019. We obviously did not get her an ILR dependant since we applied for her MN1 directly.

We have some travel to planned to India on 9th of April and I am really worried about what would happen if we do not get her registratration certificate before that. I was a bit overconfident when booking travel since I saw most people received their registration certifications within 8-9 weeks time. But Murphy's law is validating itself.

Some questions

1. How do I check the status of the application? I have tried ringing 0300 123 2253 and emailing nationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk. Neither of it have been very useful.

2. If we leave the country as planned on our holiday on the 9th, will my daughter's application be cancelled?

3. Is it possible to for her to return to the UK from India on a tourist visa to reapply just in case the nationality application gets cancelled?

4. Worst case scenario, would we be able to make a nationality application for her from India? And any idea what the home office advised process timescale is?

Thanks a lot!

1. You can't. There is no longer an online tool to check and HO do not have to give you an update until 6 months has passed.

2. No. You have not made an IMMIGRATION application. Nationality is separate LAWS and traveling is allowed.

3. But she isn't a tourist and if approval and cert comes while you are away, she can't apply for a visa as a British citizen anyway.

4. Possible but if you withdraw your current one, you lose the fee you have paid. It can take just as long, if not longer, from abroad.

I have received the letter now :) Just by the sheer magic from posting in this forum.

So relieved. Thanks!
