BC - Apply only for our Children who have their ILR

Hello members,

I spent two days searching for an answer to my doubt but ,not able to find one, hece raising this topic.

Myself, my Spouse and children (15 and 9) we all got our ILR in 2019 March through my 5 year Tier 2 route. They all lived in UK full 6 years.
Now we are planning to apply British citizenship only for our children and decide ours later.

Not sure if this is possible and which form to use.

I) Form AN: I checked this one, and it demands Life in UK and English test which I believe not required for minor children. so, not sure if this is the right form to use.

2) Form MN1: Guideline shows Children born abroad to parents who are applying for British
citizenship
that too it comes under at the Home Secretary’s discretion. Anyway, I feel we can't use this for in our case as we are not planning to apply now.

Please clarify what is possible and what is the correct form.

I would be grateful to your answer on this.

Your child who is 15 can only apply when either parent is also applying for citizenship. Standard rule for children under 18 born abroad. The 19 year old is an adult and applies in their own right and must meet all the requirements individually on their own, including LIUK and English B1 test, absence limits and the physically present 5 years ago requirement.

Your 19 year is NOT a 'minor', they are over 18 and therefore an adult. Form AN is correct for the 19 years old and LIUK and English B1 is mandatory.

citizenship

See comment above. The 15 year will qualify when either parent is applying or is already Britsh.

Hello CR001,

Thanks for your reply.

My kids are 15 and 09, I think you misread as 19.

Thanks for pointing "Standard rule for children under 18 born abroad".

SO, in that case either one of us to apply AN and my kids to apply in MN1 form?

Thanks and Regards
Mani

Apologies, yes then it would be form MN1 for them but only when either parent is also applying.

Yes.
