Hi guys,

I am due to apply for citizenship in July 2020 this year. However l had my first ever traffic offence of speeding after driving for nine years last year in June 2019 which l attended a speed awareness class. Unfortunately again this year March 2020 l had another driving offence of going through a amber/red traffic light. I am not sure what the punishment will be yer. I have two questions please
1. Do l declare the first offence with the speed awareness course?
2. Is it worth me applying in July 2020 or l have to wait three years considering the "good character" requirement?

Hi, No you do not need to tell them about your speed awareness course as it’s not an offence as you attended the awareness course and you didn’t get any points. I did the same thing and had no issues.
And answer to your second question is that if the decision is still pending then you should mention it. Because you have already done one awareness course in last year for speeding so they might not offer you another awareness course as you can only get one in 3 years. So either wait for the outcome and see if you’re given points on your license then mention it, if you get awareness course again then don’t worry about mentioning it.

Instead of assuming things you need to understand what good characters entails. Speed awareness course is not an offence. Furthermore speeding offences do not affect nationality applications in most cases :?
