Exams required for British Citizenship

Hi guys, thanks for the forum it is really easy to navigate and very helpful!
I am just gathering all the information because my wife is about to apply for British Citizenship, after holding for a year her Indefinite Settled Status under the european law.
I know for sure that she will need to take the LITUK test + an English language certificate.
I have read on the HO website that she will need to take a B1 English Level (Cefr)
My questions are these:
1) Can she take either the IELTS Life Skills b1 or the GeSE Grade 5 b1?
2) If Yes is the GeSE Grade 5 a bit smoother than the Ielts one ( it only last 10 minutes and it is just a conversation with the examiner).
3)Is it enough the preparation material on Trinity Website or she will need to attend a course..?( she works as Cleaning Supervisor and I believe we can prepare it ourself at home).
We have already read all the Trinity Preparation Material.
4) Is it true that Life in the Uk certificate does not expire and the GeSE Grade 5 lasts 2 years? (That means she can take both these exams and apply in 3 months or a year for example).
Thanks in advance guys, we are very excited about it.

Take GeSE Grade 5 b1 only

don't know but 10 minutes is easy

No course required.

Correct.
Is my wife elegible for British Naturalization?

Hi guys!
Before starting my wife application for naturalization I would like to be sure she is eligible for that.
We have lived in the UK since May 2010.She had a Residence Card expired on December 2015.
May 2015 she got the Italian passport ( February 2015 acquired the Italian citizenship).
November 2019 She got the Indefinite Settled Status ( got it early because she works in a university).
Qualifying period May 2015 to May 2020. Settled Status ( More than 12 months).
1- Is she eligible am I right?
If yes, she will apply online but we are reading the AN form (the post one) just to have an idea of what she needs..
At the start it says: you should read the AN guide(done it) and the AN booklet.
I cannot find anywhere this AN Booklet!I am confused because in the AN Guide the title says: Guide AN Naturalization Booklet –The Requirements.
2- is the An Booklet and the AN Guide the same thing?
Many thank guys, sorry for being meticulous, don t want to have doubts!

1- Is she eligible am I right?
Yes but
in November 2020 - 12 months wait time if under UK S S

It's online now - here's the link to the guidance booklet:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-guidance
"The requirements" used to be a separate booklet it was more a guide to the paper form - now online. The guidance and the online system will tell you what you need. Link to online application:

2- is the An Booklet and the AN Guide the same thing?
see above.

Very commendable, some errors or misunderstandings can lead to delete or refusal. Keep asking in this thread if you have further queries.

Follow-up question: are you a British citizen? Then wife could apply immediately (or could have applied in Nov 2019).

Sorry Guys I just have to correct a date, because I did a mistake.
My wife has hold her Indefinite Settled Status since November 2018 ( not 2019 as I mentioned above in the post), so she has hold it for 16 months!
I am not a British citizen myself.
Sorry for the mistake!
VAT registered charity for the "professional standing referee".

Hi folks,
I have read all the topics regarding this argument, but I need your help in order to know if my wife can have her professional referee from her work place or not.
In the list of acceptable professions there is one in particular that seems to be the right one for my wife's application:
Director/Manager of a VAT registered charity
My wife has worked for 4 years in a public university in Scotland that is a registered charity (exempt charity).
We have seen online that the university has got a VAT registration too, so it has a VAT number, VAT ID etc.
That is making me assume that it is a VAT registered charity(but she will ask that tomorrow, just to be sure).
My questions are the following:
1- Does it need to be a limited company or the university is fine for this purpose?
2- If the university is fine, can any manager (that has known her for at least 3 years) be her professional referee?
(E.g One of her manager is the General Manager of Hospitality Services).
3- Does the word Manager need to appear in the Referee's position title?
What about if someone is Head of Department and does not have the word manager in its job title?
4-Does it need to be a Top manager or it can be part of the management ?
E.g. Deputy Manager, Senior Manager,Senior Supervisor etc..
5- Can the HR manager of the university be Her referee(obviously she has known her for 4 years)?
Same thing as above, can it be a deputy or senior etc..
Many thanks guys, that seems to be the hardest bit of the application, thanks for your help again!

Guys, I have just been confirmed that that my wife's university is a VAT registered charity.
Is there anybody that could help me with this questions?
As soon as I know who can be the referee, I will be able to start the application, the exams etc.etc.
Many thanks, I hope someone can help me.
Gese Grade 5 Trinity College for BC still valid?

Hi pals,
A person has already asked this question and I have already seen the English approved tests on the Home Office website but still very confused about it..
I would like to know if my wife is still able to take the Gese Grade 5 test or she must take the IELTS one only.
(I know the Trinity College said is still valid and they re waiting for the new extension from Home Office to be formal).
From the Gov.Uk website:
Before7 April list: You can book the Trinity College exam until "7th of July"
After 7 April list: Trinity College exams not mentioned at all.
1-Will this exam be valid after 7th of April??
If my wife book the test before 7th July and pass it.
2-Does she need to submit the AN application before 7th of July?
3- How long will it be valid for once passed?
4- Do you think guys, better take the other exam ( not the Trinity) for peace of mind?!
Thanks again folks.
