Does claiming benefits affect future citizenship application?

I just received my PR (EEA) as spouse of an EEA national. I intend to apply for citizenship as soon as eligible. My question is: Can I now apply for public funds (child benefits) without affecting my future citizenship application? I recall on the PR application it asks if you've taken public funds, which I'm assuming counts negatively against your application. Is it the same for citizenship?

When you are allowed and you take benefits it doesn't affect citizenship application. When someone is not allowed at some point of stay in UK but they claim benefits then it can affect the application but more likely if a caseworker is nice person will apply discretion if explained properly the reason to apply for benefits.

Thanks for your reply

So just to clarify, I am 'allowed' to take benefits right?

You are allowed - and you were allowed even before PR - benefits don't count against you if you were entitled to them.
